Dr. Priya Vijay Ayyar

 Pune University

 India

Research Interest: Currently, I am a Postdoctoral researcher at Department of Botany, Pune University. I earned my Ph.D. from the University of Edinburgh, the UK in 2016. My Ph.D. topic was to uncover the possible role of S-nitrosylation in Jasmonic acid signaling during plant immune response. Arabidopsis thaliana was used as a model plant for my studies and S-nitrosoglutathione reductase atgsnor1-3 mutant was shown to compromise in its immunity against pathogen infections. My work has suggested that S-nitrosylation compromises plant immunity by suppressing the JA signaling pathway. I have also worked as a Research Associate in National Institute of Virology in Hepatitis and the project was to identify the role of papain-like cysteine protease in HEV replication. Therefore, I am also interested in virology. My research interest is in plant defense, redox regulation and medicinal uses of plants, Jasmonic acid signaling pathway, and hormonal crosstalk.
